Conical spring seals use a tapered spring shape that fits into shorter axial spaces than a standard coil spring, making them a practical choice for equipment with limited stuffing box length while maintaining consistent seal face loading.

Double component mechanical seals use two sets of seal faces arranged in tandem or back-to-back, providing an additional barrier for hazardous, toxic or high-value process fluids where leakage cannot be tolerated.
